Cattlemen's Days Perseveres Through the Pandemic

The 120th annual Cattlemen’s Days rodeo has been rescheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cattlemen’s Days is the fourth-oldest professional rodeo and the oldest continuous rodeo in the country. This rodeo has persevered through the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, the Great Depression, and two world wars, and now it will outlast the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, as well.
Cattlemen’s Days will be a little different this year as the committee has decided to air the rodeo and Gunnison on national TV through The Cowboy Channel. Fans and locals have banded together to raise $150,000 to make this possible. Anyone who donated at least $150 to the cause will be entered into a lottery for two tickets to the live show, since regular admission will not be available due to health risks associated with the pandemic.
